Post 3: The Plot of My Life
The plot in The Story of an Hour is a plot that I can find somewhat comparable to my life. In the story, the protagonist, Louise, believes she has lost her husband in an accident. I see this as comparable to my life because my brother passed away recently and I can empathize with the pain of losing someone you feel deeply connected to. Also, when Louise is coping with her loss she starts convincing herself of all the reasons she can come up with as to why she is better off as a widow. When my brother passed, I found myself doing very similar things. I was constantly trying to see the silver linings of how my life could progress better or easier, even though I knew it wasn't true. Sometimes I will have dreams where my brother appears again in them and I will be overcome with joy, to the point where it can wake me up from the dream sometimes. I see this as similar to Louise seeing her husband and dying in a sort of opposite and reciprocal way. I say this because I believe dying probably feels like waking up from a long dream.
Your post is really good. I'm sorry about the loss of your brother. I think at times we do try to justify things that deep down we know we had no control over.
