Post 26: comparing women's roles

When I first read Ms. Bradshaw's post, I realized that her and I had a slightly different opinion. Ms. Bradshaw believes that the role of wome n "shou ld be to take care of home while the man works". I disagree with this because if you still tell women that there is a certain place that they "should be" in society, it does not allow them the freedom to express who they truly want to be and lead a life that is true to herself. Next I read Mr. Jarquez's blog post about women's role in society. Him and I agree that women's primary role should be " to  no longer follow behind the man in the most situations" However I believe that our society still has a long way to go before we reach this goal.

Post 25: Role of Women in modern day life

In our society, women are still very oppressed by our culture. They are seen culturally as less than human and made to be admired as sexual objects by most people. This is similar to the plot of the doll house because Torvald sees his wife as a pet almost instead of another human he is sharing his life with. Women are still often expected to fulfill roles as maintainers of a house if they are not being glamorized as a sexual symbol, this view is arguably barely a progression since A Doll's House was written.

Post 24: Best Movie Plot

My favorite movie plot is the plot of  the movie Mr. Nobody. It takes place over a vast array of times and places over many different story lines. The main character Nemo Nobody, is shown leading different lives that he seems to flash back and forth between. This movie ties all of this together with string theory which is the leading theory in quantum physics that hypothesizes that reality fragments into distinct possibilities every time a decision is made.

Post 23: Setting of my favorite TV show.

My favorite Tv show, Game Of Thrones, is set in a fictional land known as Westeros. This setting is significant because it is imaginary and many things that do not exist on earth exist here, such as dragons and zombie night walkers etc.

Post 13: theme of favorite song lyric

My favorite song lyrics are found in the song Ripple by The Grateful Dead. The chorus of this song is "ripple in still water, when there is no pebble tossed, nor wind to blow". The theme of this song is the paradoxical nature of our existence.

Post 12: theme of my life

So far the theme of my life could be summed up as learning how to develop myself as an individual followed by learning how to not become attached to the way i taught myself to think. When I was growing up i was constantly seeking validation from friends and family to know that what i was doing was right and good. I slowly built a mosaic of my personality and being from all my experiences and all the interactions I've had so far. Eventually, I realized that all these people I was seeking guidance from, were offering it from their own limited experiences and offering advice they had also received from other people. This was the point I began seeing that asking someone else for guidance in my journey was almost the blind leading the blind. When I realized that no one truly knows exactly what is going on, all i could do was try and be sure that i didn't get too caught up in this mental delusion of "knowing" while learning how to coexist with these developed thought patter...

Post 11: Theme of the US so far

When we analyze the underlying message of the United States so far, I believe that we see one main theme. This theme is that our nation constructs its own narrative to foster unconditional support from its people. Our country constantly teaches the narrative that how we discovered and inhabited our land was through a brave feat of exploration followed by a peaceful embrace from the natives who graciously offered their land to us when we needed somewhere to stay. In reality, the people that first sailed to America were lost at sea when they stumbled upon land inhabited by natives. Then, the first settlers kicked the natives out of their homes while destroying their history and culture in the process. To this day we still celebrate our meeting the natives every year, remembering a feast everyone had together while trying to ignore the undertones of genocide and pillaging on our part. We also try to promote the narrative that all men are created equal and that America always conducts itse...
